  • Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) has been strongly pushed for the advancement of upgrading the infrastructure within the premises aiming at furthering more private and public funding.

  • One of the EEC policies was rolled out in June 2016 purposing on promoting 10 high-tech cluster industries within a 4800-ha development area spanning the three eastern coastal provinces of Chachoengsao, Cholburi and Rayong.

  • EEC existing infrastructures includes deep-sea ports at Laem Chabang in Cholburi and Map Ta Phut in Rayong, along with the building up of highways, railways and well-developed electricity and sewage networks.

  • EEC is already home to the world’s leading automobile manufacturers, along with the many petrochemicals and electronics companies.


  • EEC benefits the proximity to the U - Tapao International Airport in eastern Rayong, which has already become a bustling regional centre, with passenger volumes rising from 700,000 in 2016 to hit 1 million in 2017 and 2 million in 2018.

  • EEC has been expected to attract the investment of $8.7 bn in 2018. It will become the future center for trade, investment, regional transportation and gateway to Asia.

  • EEC Road and rail links will be improved to facilitate connections to Bangkok and South Asia and China will also benefit from China’s Belt and Road initiative as well.
